the plum school (1975) divided coma into three categories from the perspective of different neural localizations and metabolic encephalopathy:
1. supratentorial space-occupying lesions
(1) cerebral hemorrhage, ⑵ cerebral infarction, (3) subdural hematoma, (4) epidural hematoma, (5) intracerebral hematoma, (6) brain abscess, (7) cerebral parasitosis, (8) brain tumor
2. infratentorial space-occupying and destructive lesions
(1) midbrain hemorrhage, ⑵ pontine hemorrhage, (3) cerebellar hemorrhage, (4) brainstem infarction, (5) brainstem tumor, (6) basilar artery thrombosis, (7) cerebellar abscess, (8) cerebellar tumor , (9) fourth ventricle tumor
3. diffuse and metabolic diseases
(1) diffuse intracranial disease
① meningitis, ② encephalitis, ③ extensive craniocerebral injury, ④ hypertensive encephalopathy, ⑤ epilepsy, ⑥ subarachnoid hemorrhage
(2)metabolic diseases
① ischemia and hypoxia ② hypoglycemia ③ lack of coenzymes. ④ endocrine diseases ⑤ thermoregulation disorder ⑥ exogenous poisoning ⑦ endogenous organ failure
