hypertensive patients themselves will not cause coma. hypertensive patients who appear in coma are usually combined with hypertensive encephalopathy or even hypertensive crisis. more serious cases may be hypertension combined with intracranial hemorrhage. if a hypertensive patient is comatose simply because of a cerebral ischemic attack or a change in intracranial pressure, after correcting the blood pressure.
generally, patients can wake up quickly and there will be no obvious cerebrovascular sequelae. if a patient with high blood pressure is combined with intracranial hemorrhage, and the amount of bleeding is relatively large, or even forms a cerebral herniation, and the bleeding involves the brain stem, it is generally difficult to wake up from this coma and may even lead to death within a short period of time. even if it is a sustained coma, it is usually vegetative state.
