why do patients in deep coma cry?

patients in deep coma shed tears because most of the functions of the brainstem are lost, resulting in the loss of control of the tear glands, muscle relaxation, and symptoms of tearing.

generally, coma is mainly due to brain suppression, and more severe coma may also be accompanied by brainstem suppression. if the brainstem and brain are inhibited, the glandular secretion function and muscle contraction function controlled by the brain will be lost, and the patient will suffer from paralysis of the glands due to the loss, causing tears to flow out automatically. this situation is an unconscious state and does not mean that you are conscious. in this case, the reaction is that the brain is too comatose and inhibited too deeply, and the possibility of brain death is relatively high.
