how long it takes for a patient with cerebral hemorrhage to breathe on his own depends mainly on the patient's condition.

the respiratory center of the human body is mainly located in the medulla oblongata of the brainstem. in the early stages, patients cannot breathe spontaneously. this is mostly due to large cerebral hemorrhage and brain herniation, which compresses the respiratory center of the brainstem, causing the patient to lose spontaneous breathing. if emergency surgery can be performed and surgical decompression is performed to keep the patient's intracranial pressure normal, the patient's spontaneous breathing may be restored. if the amount of bleeding is large and the patient's pupils have been dilated on both sides, spontaneous breathing cannot be restored even after aggressive surgery.
after some patients undergo surgery, intracranial rebleeding, cerebral edema and other factors that cause increased intracranial pressure may occur. if the patient still cannot recover spontaneous breathing after about two weeks, the possibility of recovering spontaneous breathing in the later period will be relatively small.
